Now I love love love a charity shop. I think it stems from my uni days in Camden and started with my vintage obsession.
Top, vintage, Barnardo’s £4
Leather shorts, vintage €15
Basket bag, Topshop £10
Mary Janes, Topshop Similar here £16
When ever we had time off, my friends and I would stroll around Camden market, when all the good vintage stores were around ( I’m so old now!!). Sienna miller was another influence for me, back when she was in love with Jude Law and I was in love with everything she wore. And she wore a lot of vintage!
So, the vintage fashion buying merged in to charity shop buys and I slowly discovered you could find some excellent pieces. Since then I’ve mixed high street and charity or vintage clothing, and styled them all together. In fact, you can often find a vintage section within a charity shop.
Barnardo’s have allowed me to blog about my charity shopping so I set off on a trip to some charity shops and I picked up this epic embroidered shirt for a mere £4.
I’ve teamed it with some leather shorts which were actually from a charity shop in Paris! They were around 15 euros, bargain!
My favourite areas for charity shops have to be around Chiswick, St John’s wood and Notting Hill in London. There, you can spot some great pieces and a lot are designer too. I also love Shrewsbury, nearer my hometown. Now this place has many many charity shops!
The other things as well as fashion that I like to browse in charity shops are the bric-a-brac sections. When I first bought a cottage in Wales, I bought a whole 80s style tea set for about £5 and some amazing Chinese style bowls and spoons.
So next time you’re walking passed a charity shop ( and I can guarantee there’s one on every high street that you usually just ignore), go in and have a peek, you may be surprised at your finds! You can read other charity shopping stories on The Thrift or visit Barnardos.

You always look good Kelly in whatever you wear. Your age is only a number, means nothing (believe me speaking from experience). I like blue X in Lichfield personally. Best wishes Auntie Betty
