As I sit to write this in a tropical downpour in Thailand, I can safely say we didn’t do too bad in 2018!
We’ve managed to persuade both sets of parents to join us for new year over here and then myself and Richard will carry on for a few more weeks.

As I reflect, I realise my 2018 didn’t start very well because I was not at all happy in work. I took some time to think about what to do and it did take me until April but I handed my notice in and off I went to be a full time locum and film set vet. Leaving my job did mean we lost our flat, but we got to move to a beautiful wooden floored house with a garden in South London which is good enough for me!
January was our first wedding anniversary so I took Richard to Paris. My god was it cold. Four degrees and snowing was a shock to the system! But we managed to get around ok and drink fabulous wine!
February and March found us travelling again to Antigua and a stop off in New York for Richard to do some work. I’ve never been to New York in the winter so that was cool and we even had snow there! And I enjoyed showing Richard around Williamsburg and East village where I’d been with a friend a few years back.
Another holiday we had was Lisbon, as we went to see ‘The Arctic Monkeys‘ play Nos Alive festival. This was amazing and to top it off Blossoms got called in last minute to cover for The Kooks who pulled out. Lisbon was also epic and we enjoyed the traditional food of cod and chickpeas and the local wine.
In September, we also got to have a few days in Italy. We chose Ischia and Sorrento and they were beautiful! I would highly recommend them!
In June, I stumbled across a stray cat in the clinic that I fell in love with and of course he came home with us. Being a fluffy male with a mane, we decided on calling him Lionel Richie. I love him so much!

Lastly, we set up a business and bought our first house together through it to rent out. It’s a little cottage in Wales that we decorated and did up and already has our first tenant. I hope she loves it as much as we do!
I don’t make New Years resolutions but we want to save to get another little house to rent out, do more travelling, be healthy and happy along with our friends and family.
