Cornish pasties ☀️

Hello! We took a trip to Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend cos, I’ve made it to the age I’ve made it to ( *cough) and I’ve never been!!! Well, I can’t ever remember going. I suppose it was a bit far for summer holidays when you grew up in North Wales!

I now want to live there! I do believe the hype. It’s beautiful. The water and beaches are what you wouldn’t even believe are part of good old Great Britain!

We stayed in St. Ives which as you’d expect is a bit of a surfer and arty town. It has windy streets with bakery’s, gallery’s and cute boutiques. First stop was a beach just before St. Ives where the lighthouse is after a recommendation I received. It’s a huge beach so not crowded and we even braved the sea ( slightly cold but I got in cos I can’t resist the salt water!). All this with a scone and jam and Cornish clotted cream (tick)!

Dinner on the first night was tapas just on the off chance as the recommendation I got for Porthmeor was fully booked ( we should’ve booked cos the tapas looked brill). However, we were very happy with our choice of Silco Searoom. You can sit out front facing the beach or inside in a darkish bar. Tapas was watermelon salad, chorizo in red wine, prawns, mussels, mackerel and breads! They also do an amazing french rosé!!

The second day was a bit cloudy so we walked around the bit they call the island and ate fish and chips at ‘The balancing eel”.

Dinner was another recommendation I got for Italian food at ‘Peppers‘. Very lovely !!

Let’s talk about outfits!!! I’d seen the warehouse daisy bikini and I really wanted it but held off due to the cost. We have a holiday in November too so I thought I’d buy it as I will use it loads there and in Cornwall !! Glad I did, it’s so comfy!!!

I’d bought two dresses for the evenings. One from urban outfitters which I loved because they the puff sleeve of course! And the other from ‘And Other Stories’ which i’d seen over summer but again not bought. I’m glad I bought both as I’ll wear them over and over!!

The last day we’d decided to head back to London but with a stop on the way. I picked Port Isaac as the dog I worked with last week is the dog in Doc Martin which is filmed there. Every year they spend a couple of months in a cute holiday cottage to do the filming, so I was intrigued. It is bliss. A tiny fishing village with a gorgeous setting of cottages and windy streets.

Then it was home time 😦
